iPhone subscription in preparation
Interesting information was first published by Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, who is considered a fairly informed source. According to him, Apple is preparing a new option for buying iPhones (eventually it will be extended to other devices). It would actually be appropriate to write “purchase” because it’s a subscription-based service.
Rented, not owned. Isn’t there too much of the past?
The premises of this idea, of course, will not surprise anyone. Users must pay a flat fee each month, and in return they will be able to use the smartphone of their choice. As is usually the case with Apple, this is not about anything revolutionary, I wonder if and how the manufacturer is going to distinguish it from installment sales. Perhaps, in addition to the smartphone, it will offer some of its services, such as Apple Care and Apple One, which, in the eyes of some, could make it all more attractive.
Mark Gurman expects the new service to be launched later this year or early 2023. Initially with the aforementioned iPhones, but it will eventually include the rest of Apple’s hardware, including the iPad, MacBook, and Apple Watch.
Unfortunately, the specific amount was not named, the assumptions range from 20 to 40 dollars per month.
